Doctor Follow-up

April 30, 2009

-I’d like to thank The Vinyl Villager for this post. I started to reply to the comment he left on yesterday’s post and about the time I got to *** I realized I wasn’t “commenting” I was essentially writing a post…LOL

Here’s his comment:

Hope you all have a clean bill of health! I friggin hate going to the doctor…

Unfortunately for me, I have several "ongoing issues" – the fibromyalgia, and headaches that apparently have no basis in anything any kind of test can find, but that essentially never go away :(. I do however take a medication that, for a short time, make them ALMOST gone…of it’s a narcotic, and despite having taken it for almost 20 years now, but NONE while pregnant with the boy 🙂 – when I move from Terre Haute to Indy it took a while to find a doctor who believed I wasn’t a drug addict. When he moved about 7 years ago, it took another two years, maybe three, to find my current doc, and we had several run-ins before I finally convinced him I wasn’t hooked on it or abusing it. It took me not taking any for two months (confirmed by blood tests), and me almost (and really, really, realllllly wanting to) literally coming to blows with one of the other providers in the office to do it (that incident may be an upcoming post, actually…). Wow, that was more than you were looking for, huh..? Anywhoooo, he added a high blood pressure med for me (no idea why my blood pressure would be high…) and refilled all the other crap I needed (I take about 8 or 9 different meds).

Hunny, on the other hand, not so good*** (a bit much for a “comment, huh..? although I have left longer ones…*grin*). For those who don’t know Hunny is diabetic. This is a recent discovery (about a year & a half ago, when he went for his DOT physical, his sugar was high, so they refused to ‘stamp’ it & sent him to the doctor. The test they do to determine what the average has been for like the last 2-3 months, called an A1C That’s A one C) came back at like 10% or 11% . According to Diabetes Health “The normal level of A1C in people without diabetes is approximately 4% to 6%. In 1994, the ADA began recommending specific A1C treatment goals based on the results of the DCCT. From that time on, the goal for most people with diabetes has been less than 7%. Each 1% change in A1C represents a change of approximately 35 mg/dl in average blood glucose. Not good. He was started on Janumet & Actos, changed his diet, and was doing very well. His blood sugar readings were running between 85 and 140ish – not GREAT but not really bad either. But then, shit happened, and happened some more, and of course, much most of the rest of the general population, we are having the regular how-the-Hell-do-I-pay-all-these-bills-with-this little-bit-of-money? stuff going on. They’ve cut hime back to about 40 to 45 hours a week (Hunny is your atypical, 1950’s sorta guy. Even though I work, and we have more of a partnership than most in a lot of ways, in his head it’s still his responsibility to not only pay all the bills, but also support me in the style I’d like to become accustomed to…) SO, the stress went up, and his attention to his health went down….He finally decided to start checking his sugars again MONDAY – ‘cuz we had doctor appointments on Wednesday. The first reading..? 465!!!  For those who have no clue what that means, an average person’s sugars run 80 – 90 on average. See a problem here..? So he now has another medication, and a bunch more stress. Stress raises blood sugar. Vicious cycle. Why stress..? Well, to begin with HE COULD DIE FROM THIS. In addition (‘cuz yanno that’s not enough…) if he has to start taking insulin shots, he could lose his job. The Federal government say that if you are diabetic, and you take insulin shots, you can’t hold a CDL…although there is a small glimmer. It seems that if you don’t go out of state/over the road (he doesn’t) you can get a waiver. “That’s Wonderful” you say. Did I mention that the waiver has an associated cost (because what government related anything doesn’t?) $2700 a year. Every year. Where’s my bailout..?

*sigh* why do all my “pots of gold at the end of the rainbow” turn out to be filled with coal..? Oh well, such is life. Either we’ll get by or we won’t : )

There’s more…the boy got a Z pack & a blood draw (still waiting on results), and seems to be doing much better, as I said, more to come : )

Gotta go, the boy gets off the bus in about 10 minutes & I’m sitting here in my underwear, letting the new ink air out *grin*

See ya laterzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!!!!!

New Tattoo!!! Well, ok, a start on a new tattoo/cover up

April 30, 2009

Here is what we are starting with…

Here is just the basic outline…about 45 minutes in

Here is the black work – the part that is cover-up, the rest will follow in the next sitting, maybe…

Here is where I had had enough for one sitting…this is about the 2.5 – 3 hour mark. Now, I wait for healing ( 2 – 4 weeks), and time for another sitting, to go on to the next stage.

Cool, huh..?!?!?

I will continue to post pics from future sittings. Hunny is getting a new one tomorrow…

Ok, going to bed, I’m whupped. Doc put me on high blood pressure meds, and they boy has been given a Z-pack, in liquid form. I didn’t know they made such a critter! Hunny’s blood-sugar is ridiculous )running between 300-450, his urine had over 2000 parts(?) Am going to bed now.

See  ya laterzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!!!!

April 29, 2009

We’re going doctoring today. Hunny I both have appointments, and the boy’s throat & stomach have started acting up again : ( So he’s going with us – our doctor’s office has a wonderful walk-in policy. The problem being Hunny & the boy see the same doctor & I see a different one. Why is that a problem, you ask..? Hunny can just take him in with him and be done! Yeah, ok. Problem..? Hunny isn’t the most, shall we say sympathetic..? when it comes to the boy being ill…

He tries, don’t get me wrong. He just doesn’t succeed real well… Oh well, we’ll figger it out, and I’ll letcha know how it works out…I’m supposed to be getting tattooed today, too, but with the boy sick, I dunno what’s going to happen with that, either : (

Anyways, I’ll catch ya up when I get home to stay 🙂

See ya laterzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!

Books for Prisoners

April 28, 2009

I was going from place to place online this afternoon – I can do that right now, ‘cuz I’m on VACATION! If you can call a weeks worth of organizing, laundry & garage cleaning (pics coming soon…) “vacation.” Anywhoo, I went to Hey! It’s Free, one of my daily visits – when I remember – and clicked a link for free “Nature’s Source Cleaner.” After filling out the form, I was offered a coupon for $1 off as well. I’m all about dollars off!

You: “ How exactly does this have anything to do with books or prisoners..?”
Me: “I’m getting to that, just don’t get your panties in a wad!”

Now, where was I…oh yeah, it wanted me to download a coupon printer, which I didn’t want to do, so went back and clicked on a link that said “7 ideas for recycling your clutter. One of the suggestions (you’ll hafta go yourself if you want to see the rest of the suggestions) was to donate books – there’s a link for donating to soldiers, and one to donate to prisoners. The one to donate to soldiers wants you to fill out a PAPER form and MAIL it. Now I’m not paranoid, not much anyways, but really? Why do I have to fill out a paper & send it to the government in order to donate books..? I’m just sayin’…

So I went to the other one, where you can donate to prisoners. (No paper form required!) and at the top of the list – ok not THE top, but the top of the Fiction & Others list – I saw a request for Pagan books…in bold even. So I thought I would put it up here so my three readers (yeah YOU) can consider going through your shelves, and maybe donate…just a thought…

Teas, Teas & More Teas…

April 26, 2009

Tea is a wonderfully satisfying beverage, and comes in so many varieties anymore…

Witches, and pagans, and people who are health conscious are turning to tea as an alternative to coffee (never happen here…) and soda (Hunny’s summer drink…)

I was filling time this afternoon after cleaning out my car (6 hours & still not done – but in my defense, I am doing a deep clean…), showering & doing dinner, and went to check out my BzzAgent Account. For those of you who don’t know, BzzAgent is AWESOME! BzzAgent is (in their words…)

“We’re a word-of-mouth media network powered by a half-million people. We pair consumers with products and supply digital tools that make widespread opinion-sharing easy.”

In English..? You go to their site and sign up. They send you shit. I got a Logitech Universal Remote control that is absolutely rockin’! I did a post on it when I got it almost a year ago, and if anything I like it better now than I did then! Or sell you shit dirt cheap. Then you use what they’ve sent you. Then you talk about it to friends, relatives, anyone who will listen. Then you just go back to the site & write about talking about it.

I did one about the new Take Care Clinic located in Walgreens. It doesn’t matter if you like the subject of the campaign or not, you still get rewarded for reporting your findings & opinions. The experience I had at the Take Care Clinic was decidedly negative, surprisingly & total unexpectedly. The Walgreen I use has some of the nicest employees I’ve run across in a pharmacy. When CVS bought out the Osco’s we had gone to for years, I just kinda pharmacy jumped til we moved down here. This Walgreen’s is much like Osco’s was, and I fully expected the clinic located inside it to be staffed with similar people. Not. I’ll not go back, I’ll tell ya that! But, back to BzzAgent, they’re currently offering a “Family Gaming System” I have found being sold currently for $99.99 and up for $29.99 if you’re a member & willing to use & and report on it…

Anywho, as is par for the course with me, I have wandered a bit from my original reason for posting. As I was going through the Frogpond offerings (I’m not going on another tangent – you wanna know, go check out BzzAgent. And no, I don’t get anything for your going – at least I don’t think I do…), I cam across this website as a frogpond offering Yogi Teas. Tea, tea and more tea. Cool, huh? Have fun with it!

Going now, for now…

See ya laterzzzzzzzzzzzz

No I’m not a police wife – I’m a redneck, truck driver wife *grin* But I am a police friend & police sister-in-law. I found this by clicking a link in a comment on The Vinyl Villager ( a daily requirement!) which took me to Note To Self (how funny is that…my last post was a “note to self” what a cowinkydink!), which took me to the blog-a-thon. Since I am way broke today (and tomorrow & the next day…) I can’t donate right now, but I can make sure all three of my readers know about it, and give them a chance to go visit & maybe donate to a good cause 🙂

April 25, 2009

It’s a beautiful day. The sun is shining, a breeze is blowing. You find you have to go somewhere, so you get in your car, open the sunroof & off you go. Sunglasses on. Wind in your hair. Music loud. Sun shining down through the open sunroof. Cruising down the interstate at 70, 60, the speed limit of 55…

**Note to self: When you find yourself in the above described situation, not the best time to decide your windshield needs washed….

Crisis Averted – Conclusion

April 24, 2009

So I went to Wally World last night, and Debetta the Beta now has a new home. He also has new rocks, although I kept the hidey hole for him…Yanno I don’t think I’ve ever seen a hidey hole in with a Beta before, but he seems to really like it – you know, to hide in. I even got the Chlor-out stuff, the right one! Of course, the bowl I grabbed didn’t have a tag on it, just like all the other bowls back there, so the cashier had to call a manager. At 10:30 pm. Can you see where this is going..? Yeah, she was at the other end of the checkouts, apparently chit chatting with someone. And that’s where she stayed. For 10 minutes. As I started her way she decided it was time to respond and headed towards us. Since I was tired, I just went to the ATM, thinking I would soon be on my way home. But apparently that wasn’t to be. I walked back up to the register just in time to hear her say “Page someone in pets” Huh? IT’S 10:30. PM. There isn’t anyone in pets at 10:30 on a Thursday night! Oh Goody, I get to wait ANOTHER 15 minutes. Yeah, I said it out loud.

So we stood and waited. And waited. And waited. Finally, the manager came back

Her: “Do you know how much it is?”
Me: ”$4.97, I’ve said ten times by now…”
Her: *to cashier: “Just do an override.”

You couldn’t do that 15 minutes ago..? Or even 25 minutes ago, when you were originally called..? I mean c’mon – I read a whole magazine waiting on her! Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!

Oh well, such is life 🙂

So. Debetta the Beta has a new home. He seems pretty pleased about it, too – although, how would a fish show displeasure? Really? They don’t bark or yowl, they don’t bite – well most of them don’t bite…My mom had an Oscar that sat at the end of a “bar” in her dining room. Her cat would get up on the bar and torment it – or it would torment the cat – either way…She came home one day to find it flopping on the dining room floor & the top open. We assumed it got tired of the cat messing with it & jumped outta the tank trying to eat it….Needless to say, she did put a paperweight on the top of the tank.

But anywho. Debetta is all set up – see for yourself:

No more “Everything looks cloudy! OMG I’m losing my sight! I’m GOING BLIND!!!” for Debetta. I’m sure it’s a huge load off of his mind…

Not to be outdone, the crazy kitty had to make his presence felt last night. Bel seems to be under the impression that any piece of anything  dark colored is his personal hiding place. If it’s dark colored, and it can be gotten to, it’s his. The dark blue blanket on the bed. The dark blue carpet runner coming in from the garage. Never mind that laying on these things tends to get him stepped on! And it doesn’t matter how small it is – he’ll lay on a 4”X4” piece of cloth & think he’s well hidden…

My reusable Wally World bags are black. Well, some of them are. The ones I used last night…See for yourself:

Yeah, there’s a cat in that pic. You can see him if you look really close…it a cag (cat/bag) or maybe a bat – no wait there’s already a critter called a bat…

See how well he hides..? He seems to think the dark colors in the multi-colored rug hide him…You can kinda see the runner towards the top of the pic. He is blending pretty well with the bags again, tho. He was actually trying to get inside them, but gave up before I got the camera out      😦 He’s never net a small, enclosed place he didn’t like. When I bought a new printer it took all of 3 minutes for him to claim the box. Since it had a big plastic wrap thingy and styrofoam (have you ever tried to clean up styrofoam a cat has decided was too big and needed “brought down to size”? which translates to a bazillion little pieces of super-light-can’t-be-sucked-with-the-vacuum-because-the-updraft-blows-it-away-before-the-sucker-can-get-it…). I closed the lid, you know the old fold over & under thingy? 30 min later I looked up to see a cat’s rear legs & tail sticking out of the middle of the flaps on the top of the box. His front half was firmly inside – and my camera was nowhere to be found…go figger!

Anywho, I gotta go. Today & tomorrow (my 4 hour Saturday! Woohoo!) Then I’m off for 8 days. In a row. All together. I won’t know how to act! Well, I will, I’ll do laundry, clean the house, organize my closet, get the garage cleaned out (you remember – the two-car garage you can’t get even one in..?). Oh yeah, and blogging! I hope….

See ya laterzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!!!!!!

Crisis Averted

April 23, 2009

Hunny is home today due to “lack of work.” While I really enjoy spending time with my dear Hunny, I don’t enjoy ANYONE in the AM. I have my routines, and apparently in my old age, and after 10 years with someone who doesn’t take to change well, I am becoming set in my ways, and having an extra person – even Hunny – underfoot in the morning is, shall we say, not good?

I had to sit in a different spot. I had to maneuver around him in the kitchen to get my FIRST CUP OF COFFEE. (Not good). I had to TALK to him…Talking..? 5 minutes after waking up..? Again, can I say NOT GOOD? And he KNOWS better! This is the same man who used to wait to wake me until 2 minutes before he had to leave. He would gently kiss me until I woke, then go in the other room. I would stumble into the bathroom, do my business, then make my way to the computer desk, where I would find a hot cup of coffee (mixed perfectly), my cigarettes & lighter & my computer booted up. He would then gingerly kiss the top of my head, say “I love you” and out the door he went. It’s safer that way.

Been awake 10 minutes and I hear “That bluetooth doesn’t work.” Huh? Bluetooth? What’s a bluetooth..? Oh yeah, ordered one from QVC (‘cuz I won $150 in QVC gift cards at work – whole other story…) and it came yesterday. Why did we order one..? Well, the first one got washed & the second is acting funky – again, another story. So I had to get up, look at the bluetooth, look at the charger, and grab the destructions to try to figure out what was up with it. And of course the destructions are in Spanish. And French. And German. And Japanese. They were NOT however in English – you know, the primary language of the country I live in? Grrrrrrrrrrrr……

After finding the English directions, eventually, (mind – I’ve only been up 13 minutes at this point) I finally determined that the charging port on the bluetooth is bad. So now I get to go through the hassle of returning something bought via mail. Fun Fun.

As if that wasn’t enough, about an hour later I hear “The shelf is wet and the fish thing is empty.”

Apparently, the fish thingy that I emptied a bit the other night, using the built in drain & rubber stopper on THE BOTTOM of it & added fresh water to – ‘cuz that’s what the destructions say to do periodically – the plug in the bottom of it decided that was the time it was going to quit sealing completely. Even though it is as secure as it can get. So it has been slowly leaking – drip, drip, drip, (because a flow of water would have been SEEN and possibly CAUGHT, and it wouldn’t have been able to empty almost COMPLETELY before someone noticed, and the bookshelf wouldn’t be soaked, and the particle board under the pretty oak stick-on stuff wouldn’t swell & bubble up, and have to be replaced…..) which had to be what happened, because there wasn’t a puddle anywhere…

And of course, the water that you put the fish into has to either have chlorine remover added (which I thought I bought, but got home and found to be something to make cloudy water clear. And I didn’t take it back because #1 it was like $1.29, and #2 what was the point? I had him in water by then, he was good) or left to sit out for at least 24 hours to allow the chlorine to dissipate – destructions again – and I happened to have a jug of water for coffee (see? I have lots of stories to post, I just need a few extra hundred hours in each day…) that had been sitting overnight, and I used it.

Now the damm thing was empty & Dabetta the beta fish was flopping on the gravel at the bottom of it & gasping for breath, erm, water…And of course I am THE ONLY PERSON ON THE PLANET capable of fixing it. “Cuz you know, the other adult in the house, the one that wakes up awake & ready to go and has already been up for HOURS, eaten breakfast, and is now sitting in MY MORNING CHAIR is incapable of it.

So, I get up to find the only water we have, that has been sitting for 24 hours, is in the refrigerator. I’m thinking dumping fridge temperature water on a gasping-for-breath fish might give him oxygen, but it’ll probably also give him a heart attack and make the need for oxygen kinda pointless. Yanno? So, I mixed it with hasn’t-been-sitting-out-for-24-hours water to try to warm it some. The only water faucet we have that isn’t connected to the water softener is in the garage. It’s 45 degrees. My garage isn’t heated – well, not really so you can imagine the water I added to the cold water didn’t help much. I nuked it. (FYI a large bowl of water nuked for 2 min. is the perfect temperature to dump on a gasping-for-breathe-Beta-fish…).

But the fish thingy was still drip, drip dripping away, so now I had the problem of finding something to put him in. Hunny was a big help…

Me: “Do we have anything I can put him in until I can get  new fish thingy?”
Him: *opens cabinet where rubbermaid type dishes are stored

! ! ! !

So, Debetta the beta fish has a new temporary home in my size 3 lid rubbermaid storage container.

Beta Home

At least he’s alive. For the moment. I hope he survives until I can get to Wally World and get a new fish thingy for him. And maybe some Chlor-out. I wonder…do you think he’s freaking out because everything is “cloudy” looking now when he looks out through the rubbermaid? Cuz the thingy he was in was clear….

Ok, gotta get ready for work, and I still haven’t put up today’s post over at A Witch In Time… so I need to go do that real quick-like, too…

See ya laterzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!!!!!
