Catch Up…

May 18, 2009

This is an apology for not posting regularly the last little while. I had to take my 6 year old to the doctor twice more in the last two weeks – the last time was a new doctor, who has made a completely different (but much more logical) determination regarding the stomach problems he has been suffering with. He also has some funky allergies on top of the stomach stuffs (chocolate, apples & bananas) When we took him to our usual doctor again they told me his stomach problems are stemming from being allergic to milk (probably his favorite drink, really!) and wheat – you know, bread to make PB&J sandwiches, breading on chicken nuggets (one of his fav foods) the crust on pizza, most cereals. While this made no sense to me (if these allergies are causing the problem, why didn’t the problem start YEARS AGO when he first started ingesting these items..? AND they DIDN’T check to confirm the stuff we have had reactions to.  And backtracking for a minute, they made this determination by testing his blood. We have had a standing order to get his blood drawn for testing for respiratory allergies for a while. We just hadn’t gotten it done due to scheduling issues. When there for the stomach (again, I might add) it was determined this needed to be done to also check for possible causes of the pain. Luckily Hunny was with me, and even more luckily (for the nurse) he was between me & her.

She initially brought out an adult blood draw syringe. I mentioned to her that my veins, while looking like a junkies dream are actually a phlebotomist’s nightmare, small, and "rolly"  They play Hell trying to start an IV or draw blood from me. They have to use a "butterfly" needle, made for drawing from infants, to succeed on me. She (finally, after a bit of "argument" with me) got a butterfly. Then she missed. Yep, she missed his vein. And instead of just saying "Oops, I missed, let’s try the other arm." She then proceeded to "dig" in his arm for the vein (those of you who have had blood drawn know what I mean – they pull the needle part way out then push it back in, several times, in an effort to find the vein they missed…) He’s SIX. And in tears & shaking, from pain & fear. As I said, lucky for her Hunny was physically between me & her. Or she’d have been on the floor & I’d have been in jail. She ended up having to use the other arm any ways, after all that…

There is a point to this, I promise…

When they called 10 days later with the results, I asked what the respiratory results had been and was told they results weren’t back yet. Four hours later I received another call – they didn’t order the respiratory tests and want me to get his blood drawn again….Somehow I don’t see that happening anytime soon.

So Friday when He was again having stomach pain & vomiting, I called a different doctor. They got me in that day (in like an hour!). We did the history stuffs, and I went over everything above with her. She said instead of trying to draw blood again right away, she wanted to try Zyrtec. Back to being related & similar reactions amongst family members, I mentioned my experience with that particular medicine – not good. Can we say Zombified..? As a child, he is still in the stage where the adult reactions seem to be opposite, so we’re looking at a possible reaction of super-hyper – in a kid who doesn’t stop as it is, and sleeps very little…she agreed it might not be the right thing, but asked me to try it "on a day I could be with him all day to gauge the side-effects. But then she also suggested nasal spray. The stuff for allergies, prescription, and gave me a sample. She also said the one I have at home (that was for Hunny but that he says his allergies aren’t bad enough to need…) is the same thing and can be used. The difference is AMAZING! For a kid who goes through a box of Kleenex a week, constantly sniffling, sneezing & coughing – just WOW! No sniffles, no sneezes, no need for Kleenex, and his cough has diminished tremendously!!!! She also said that all of the drainage from the allergies could be contributing to his stomach problems…Then she sent us across the way to get an X-ray of his tummy, and said something about possibly needing to go to Riley Hospital for Children’s GI dept if it didn’t provide an answer… But it did – or at least a good possible. Apparently, despite the fact that he uses the bathroom usually twice a day (I know, I know, TMI) his bowels are completely full of old stool. She has him taking a very mild stool softener twice a day in an effort to get it emptied out and put an end to the pain being caused by his body not having anywhere to put new waste when he eats.  They had done a similar X-ray in Jan when I took him to the ER the second time, so they had a reference. Our doctor had those results, too.

Now I have to wonder, why didn’t our regular doctor do these things, try these options – things that seem to be having a positive impact on my boy? That office has XRay equipment IN THE OFFICE, why didn’t it occur to them to do an X-Ray? Why was I given "Oh, just give him a Pepcid everyday and he’ll be fine."? Why wasn’t that modified the 2nd, or even 3rd time he was there for THE SAME ISSUES? Why did I have to go to a different doctor to be taken seriously? (at least  that’s how it feels, like I was getting the old "Mom’s over re-act, it’s not that serious" I’m not a doctor, but I am my child’s mother – not my first go round, if you’ll remember I also have two adult children – and yet when I told them "The child had a broken arm & refused any pain meds, saying it didn’t hurt that bad, but is IN TEARS over the pain in his belly")

I’m fairly certain I have found a new doctor for my boy…add to that my Hunny, who is diabetic, has had sugar readings lately in the 350-400 range, who will also lose his job (he is a truck driver, holds a CDL)  if he has to start taking insulin, as federal law says insulin=no CDL. He meds have been increased, and he’s gone back to the proper diet, and reduced the stress he had – a whole nother post, which may eventually end up on The Life & Times… – and it is coming down, but still isn’t where it needs to be…But now I have another problem – he sees the same doctor my boy was seeing. Has he messed up regarding Hunny..?

All of that on top of the medical crap I have to deal with, as well as work, bills, and general living, well, I haven’t kept up with posting like I should. Things seem to be calming down some, so hopefully I will be back in my routine soon. Until then, please be patient with me…

Doctor Follow-up

April 30, 2009

-I’d like to thank The Vinyl Villager for this post. I started to reply to the comment he left on yesterday’s post and about the time I got to *** I realized I wasn’t “commenting” I was essentially writing a post…LOL

Here’s his comment:

Hope you all have a clean bill of health! I friggin hate going to the doctor…

Unfortunately for me, I have several "ongoing issues" – the fibromyalgia, and headaches that apparently have no basis in anything any kind of test can find, but that essentially never go away :(. I do however take a medication that, for a short time, make them ALMOST gone…of it’s a narcotic, and despite having taken it for almost 20 years now, but NONE while pregnant with the boy 🙂 – when I move from Terre Haute to Indy it took a while to find a doctor who believed I wasn’t a drug addict. When he moved about 7 years ago, it took another two years, maybe three, to find my current doc, and we had several run-ins before I finally convinced him I wasn’t hooked on it or abusing it. It took me not taking any for two months (confirmed by blood tests), and me almost (and really, really, realllllly wanting to) literally coming to blows with one of the other providers in the office to do it (that incident may be an upcoming post, actually…). Wow, that was more than you were looking for, huh..? Anywhoooo, he added a high blood pressure med for me (no idea why my blood pressure would be high…) and refilled all the other crap I needed (I take about 8 or 9 different meds).

Hunny, on the other hand, not so good*** (a bit much for a “comment, huh..? although I have left longer ones…*grin*). For those who don’t know Hunny is diabetic. This is a recent discovery (about a year & a half ago, when he went for his DOT physical, his sugar was high, so they refused to ‘stamp’ it & sent him to the doctor. The test they do to determine what the average has been for like the last 2-3 months, called an A1C That’s A one C) came back at like 10% or 11% . According to Diabetes Health “The normal level of A1C in people without diabetes is approximately 4% to 6%. In 1994, the ADA began recommending specific A1C treatment goals based on the results of the DCCT. From that time on, the goal for most people with diabetes has been less than 7%. Each 1% change in A1C represents a change of approximately 35 mg/dl in average blood glucose. Not good. He was started on Janumet & Actos, changed his diet, and was doing very well. His blood sugar readings were running between 85 and 140ish – not GREAT but not really bad either. But then, shit happened, and happened some more, and of course, much most of the rest of the general population, we are having the regular how-the-Hell-do-I-pay-all-these-bills-with-this little-bit-of-money? stuff going on. They’ve cut hime back to about 40 to 45 hours a week (Hunny is your atypical, 1950’s sorta guy. Even though I work, and we have more of a partnership than most in a lot of ways, in his head it’s still his responsibility to not only pay all the bills, but also support me in the style I’d like to become accustomed to…) SO, the stress went up, and his attention to his health went down….He finally decided to start checking his sugars again MONDAY – ‘cuz we had doctor appointments on Wednesday. The first reading..? 465!!!  For those who have no clue what that means, an average person’s sugars run 80 – 90 on average. See a problem here..? So he now has another medication, and a bunch more stress. Stress raises blood sugar. Vicious cycle. Why stress..? Well, to begin with HE COULD DIE FROM THIS. In addition (‘cuz yanno that’s not enough…) if he has to start taking insulin shots, he could lose his job. The Federal government say that if you are diabetic, and you take insulin shots, you can’t hold a CDL…although there is a small glimmer. It seems that if you don’t go out of state/over the road (he doesn’t) you can get a waiver. “That’s Wonderful” you say. Did I mention that the waiver has an associated cost (because what government related anything doesn’t?) $2700 a year. Every year. Where’s my bailout..?

*sigh* why do all my “pots of gold at the end of the rainbow” turn out to be filled with coal..? Oh well, such is life. Either we’ll get by or we won’t : )

There’s more…the boy got a Z pack & a blood draw (still waiting on results), and seems to be doing much better, as I said, more to come : )

Gotta go, the boy gets off the bus in about 10 minutes & I’m sitting here in my underwear, letting the new ink air out *grin*

See ya laterzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!!!!!

Doctoring

April 29, 2009

We’re going doctoring today. Hunny I both have appointments, and the boy’s throat & stomach have started acting up again : ( So he’s going with us – our doctor’s office has a wonderful walk-in policy. The problem being Hunny & the boy see the same doctor & I see a different one. Why is that a problem, you ask..? Hunny can just take him in with him and be done! Yeah, ok. Problem..? Hunny isn’t the most, shall we say sympathetic..? when it comes to the boy being ill…

He tries, don’t get me wrong. He just doesn’t succeed real well… Oh well, we’ll figger it out, and I’ll letcha know how it works out…I’m supposed to be getting tattooed today, too, but with the boy sick, I dunno what’s going to happen with that, either : (

Anyways, I’ll catch ya up when I get home to stay 🙂

See ya laterzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!

Erm…

April 25, 2009

It’s a beautiful day. The sun is shining, a breeze is blowing. You find you have to go somewhere, so you get in your car, open the sunroof & off you go. Sunglasses on. Wind in your hair. Music loud. Sun shining down through the open sunroof. Cruising down the interstate at 70, 60, the speed limit of 55…

**Note to self: When you find yourself in the above described situation, not the best time to decide your windshield needs washed….

Really..? REALLY..? Someone Truly Believes This..?

April 21, 2009

Really..? REALLY..? I mean, this is a joke, right..? Today was a “day off” For any of you who come here regularly—> yes I mean YOU TWO! you know that as a rule a day off is anything but. Today was a bit different from the usual craziness. I did take the boy to school, go to the drug store, stop by the new flea market, clean the house and make dinner, but that was IT. So I have had some time to go blog hopping. I usually blog hop using Blog Explosion or Condron, but today I did it a little differently, by following links from one blog to another. I found a lot of interesting new places to visit…while visiting Lover of Strife, “A character from the epic Mabinogion, whose tendency to bash heads first and ask questions later leads to a terrible war between Britain and Ireland. Also, a modern-day, kind of high-maintenance, very male Witch from Houston, Texas. He can often be found not keeping his mouth shut and taking creative liberties with What Really Happened.” I clicked on a link to The Blogess, “Like Mother Teresa, only better” based on his comment that she has “The funniest site on the internet” Intriguing. Of course I had to check that out, ‘cuz I read some funny shit on a regular basis, she must be good…actually, I was pleasantly surprised! She is humorous. From the get go – go on check out the splash page…I’ll wait.

If you were brave enough to choose “Bring it on Bitch” you by now probably agree…Well, me being me, I never read just one post. Well, at least not if I find it the least bit interesting, anyways…So after exploring not-so-wiped-off-the-face-of-the-Earth childhood illnesses and the dangers of spontaneously combusting babies, I realized she goes through her comments and picks one to be “comment of the day” (Yep that’s me! The post on Lover of Strife that said – and I quote – “Jenny the Bloggess took this kind of horrifying thing I said and named it her official Comment of the Day.” wasn’t quite spelled out enough for me…). Then I read the chosen comment. IT was funny, too. Then I realized there were 125 comments on one post. So I went in and read the comments. And visited the sites of the commenters that struck my fancy. Then I found the link to Ask The Bloggess

“What the Hell does any of this have to do with the obvious outrage displayed in the opening lines of this post?” You ask..

“I’m getting there!” I say – “and really, you’ve been here before…if I didn’t ramble and wander you’d be emailing me wanting to know who the Hell was posting on my blog and what did they do with me..?”

Well, yeah…but c’mon!” You say.

I’m working on it!”

So where was I..? Oh yeah, Ask the Bloggess – that’s some funny shit, too! So on to the comments I went. Yanno, it’s been my experience that the comments are a very important part of each post (a part many of mine are sadly lacking…), and enjoy reading them almost – mind you I said ALMOST – as much as the original posts on the blogs I like. Following a link to a commenters blog, I stumbled onto Mayopie. Whose latest post bears the title “Ohhhhhhhhhh…Fat people cause global warming”

DO WHAT..?

Fortunately my initial reaction was wrong. Mayopie was responding to an article on The Sun. They are the ones who posit that overweight people are contributing – a lot – to global warming. In an article titled “Fatties Cause Global Warming.” Apparently in all seriousness….

Yeah I have an issue with that.

While in my current incarnation, I am about 5’5”, and weigh about 140, a large part of which is muscles from dancing allowing me to weigh 140 but wear a 9-10-11 (depending on manufacturer. And WHAT is the deal with THAT..? Why doesn’t a size 9 have the same waist/hip measurements across brands..? Length differences are necessary but Really..? How can a 29” waist, a 30” inch waist and a 31” waist ALL be labeled as size 9..? I mean c’mon, why is it so….huh..? What..? Did you say something..? Oh yeah, oops *blushing* will save that rant for another post…) Shit, I’ve even lost myself, hang on while I go back and read what I wrote…

Oh yeah, I wear an average 9-10-11, not teeny tiny by any means (I’ll NEVER be that) but I look pretty good, if I do say so myself : ) But I have also been 5’5” and 180 lbs – not so svelte. But I still looked good! (What!?!? I did! It’s all in how you present yourself & how you carry yourself)

Even if that weren’t true, where the f^*k does someone get off insinuating – no outright SAYING such a thing? In print? In front of the Goddess and everyone..? I could come up with a few choice actions I’d like to take in that author’s direction (my post/spell on How to Change Someone Into a Frog is at the forefront of my mind…)BUT…

As much as I am offended by this, I won’t. I can’t. I am not a flowers and light witch, and firmly believe that the world is all about balance, and if you can’t/won’t hex, neither can you/will you be able to heal, I am not personally hurt by this article. Nor is my family. So it isn’t MY PLACE to take retribution. But if you have been…well, the link is there…

Ok, it’s 9:30, Idol is on (well it’s been on for 30 min, but we have it DVRed, so it’s all good *grin*) and I am done for today. But go check out some of my new finds! And I’ve added to my blogroll, too, so be sure to visit them, too. Wonderful blog like The Vinyl VIllager, Faerie♥Kat, The Gods Are Bored, and Trench Warfare to name a few…and a very varied selection it is, too *grin*

See ya laterzzzzzzzzzzzzz!!!

Wow! A Year of Our Lives Remembered!

April 7, 2009

It is simply mind-boggling to me to think I have been “blogging” for over a year! I have met some marvelous people who have taken my on exciting – & not so exciting, sometimes – adventures with them. I have chronicled the last year of my life – mostly. I admit, if I were good at this, I’d currently have 368 posts, and I don’t. In my defense, I think about blogging every day. That counts for something, right?

We’ve acquired new family members, lost teeth, been visited by fairies & fat jolly men. We’ve moved. I hated that part…We’ve had run-ins with banks & cell companies, bad drivers & stoopid people galore! I haven’t really “poured my heart out” per se, but I’ve come mightily close. Closer than I would have thought. I’m really not the heart-pouring kind, yanno.

My other blog, A Witch In Time has 318 posts – I put myself on a structured schedule over there, and if I think people are “depending” on me, I am much more likely to try to keep up. Plus it wasn’t “born” until April 21st, so hasn’t yet reached it’s first birthday…but it’s coming 🙂

My son has gone from a pre-schooler to a Kindergartener, to an almost first grader – wow! almost a first grader! Next thing you know he’ll be in high school! Our grandbabies have become grand boys. We’ve had ups & downs and even sideways’. But we’re still going strong! Hunny and I are getting ready to celebrate 10years on the 16th, and looking forward to 40 more.

I have a job I like – mostly. Well, I work with & for people I like. Life isn’t particularly easy at this point, the ends really can’t even see each other, let alone meet, but it is good. We are (mostly) healthy, we have each other, we have a home, dependable vehicles, food in the pantry, clothes in the closet, Spring is coming, and it’ll get better. The Lady looks out for her own.

Ok, that’s about it for today. Yes, I know, I still haven’t finished the whole HH Gregg story. I’m aware. I think I keep putting it off because anytime I “brag on” something, it becomes unbragworthy, if that makes sense? So I am somewhat afraid that if I finish the story, I’ll jinx any future interactions with them….we’ll hafta wait & see what happens 🙂

See ya laterzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!!!!!

Welcome!

April 1, 2009

Welcome all to the new (potential) home of The Life & Times! I am trying things here at wordpress, as it offers some cool features that blogger doesn’t. It also, however does not give clear & concise help. At least not that I can find 😦

If anyone reading this knows how to change the, template to something other than what is available though the set up page I would really appreciate your sharing that information with me… I found several I like, but have no idea how to make em work – go figger, lol

Ok, going to finish my morning stuffs. I will try to be a little more consistent about posting. You may also notice I removed all the Puzzle postings from this location. I am considering doing a blog dedicated to them, but based on the interest they (didn’t) generate, it may remain a thought 🙂

See ya laterzzzzzzzzzzzzz!!!!!

My Blog – The Life & Times…….

March 19, 2009

Remembering my life. Chronicling it. That’s why I started this. How sad that the chronicle of my life has become a daily recitation of the puzzle I do each morning…Nothing about the temper tantrums my son has taken to having, and how tired I am of listening to him & Hunny go at each other constantly – tired to the point of tears. Nothing about the insecurities that have begun to surface as each day passes. No commentary on the struggle to get “the ends” at least within sight of each other – meeting not even an option at this point. The inability to sleep for more than an hour or two without waking up, therefore never really sleeping. The fear that the “other shoe is going to fall” because I know that despite how stressed I am, and what a struggle every day is, we still truly have it good. Trust me, I’ve had it bad, and this isn’t even close. When’s it going to happen, because it will. I’m not sure exactly what “it”  is, but I’m fairly certain it will be about as far from pleasant as white is from black.

I tell myself “People don’t want to read that crap – they have their own problems!” But really? I started this for me. For us. To have a way to go back and say “Oh yeah! That happened then ! Now I remember!” because my mind is becoming a sieve. It’s scary. For a person who has always been able to remember every little detail about everything, this is a whole new world.

Nothing about the progression, the ebb and flow, of the “magical, musical pain” as I call it. How stress makes it hurt more. How the hurt makes the stress more. I intended this to be a diary of sorts, a place where I could “let it all hang out,” so to speak. I’m the “strong” one – always have been. I don’t need your sympathy, your help, your comfort, your approval. For over 30 years that has been the me that everyone – and I do mean everyone knows. No time to call and say “hey”? So what! Too busy to go to the parent/teacher conference, good deal. Can’t be bothered to remember my birthday..? Who cares? I don’t need these things from you – no matter who you are. I actually own a t-shirt that says “Fuck You! I have enough friends.” I’ll put up a pic if I can find it… But I digress.

I created this “place” so I could not be that person. So I could be insecure, and afraid, and lonely, and even occasionally needy. A place where I could be the one getting comfort instead of giving. Crying instead of embracing with support. I also wanted to record important, and not important things as they happened, so in my busy world, they didn’t get thrown into that horrid “someday” file that seems to be infinite in size, yet inaccessible when there are a few free moments to review the contents within. Yet my world seems to have become “someday.” At least, everything important has. Someday we’ll go to the zoo. Someday we’ll take a vacation, Someday…And I’m so afraid someday will never come, for one reason or another. Yet how do I change it? I don’t see a way around doing each day the way I’m doing it -  I can’t not work, we barely make the bills as it is – feast or famine. I can’t even change my hours because I’m being held hostage by a school bus.

If I see my husband an hour a day, I consider myself lucky – seeing him sleep really doesn’t count as “seeing” him. My boy is asleep when I get home. In the mornings, he’s acting like a teenager in a 6 year old body. When your child is smart enough to find a loophole in every situation, and has the attitude of a teen, what do you do? I can’t really respond as I would to a teen – while he is intelligent he’s still a six year old emotionally, and he still follows six year old logic – he just uses college level words to do it…

Wow, I don’t even know what I’m doing here…apparently sleep deprivation tends to make one ramble – because anyone who is familiar with me knows I always stick right to my subject, and never wander from it….

Ok, going to go lay down and not sleep soundly. G’night!

See ya laterzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz! And oh yeah – I haven’t forgotten HH Gregg – I will get there, eventually….:)

In Praise of HH Gregg

February 23, 2009

Yes, I’m aware I’ve been woefully negligent regarding posting here. But really there haven’t been many blog worthy moments in my life lately. The notable exception was the breakage and (eventual) repair of my washer. I always buy the warranty. I know better than not to. . .my luck with things mechanical, expensive, or badly wanted before gotten is shall we say not the best..? Better yet, let’s just say it like it is – horrible. And this isn’t a new occurrence, it’s been going on for years…

Back in 1999, my Firebird got wrecked, again (neither time my doing, I’d like to add) and I decided it was time to replace her. She’d seen better days. I ended up selling her to my sister-in-law. I went to the dealership and found a nice little 1997 Pontiac Sunfire. Only two years old, and less than 30,000 miles! It was the newest car I had even owned. After a week, I noticed the stereo controls on the steering wheel were getting hot. VERY hot. Almost to the point of blistering you if you touched them. I took it to the dealer, found it need not just new steering controls, but a whole new stereo. Two weeks to order in parts, so into a rental car I went. When the kid showed up with the rental car, I think I may have frightened him a bit…I have been told that I am a bit intimidating on the best of days. That wasn’t a “best” day…I had worked 8 hours, had sat at the dealership for 2 more hours, waiting on a diagnosis for the car I had bought ONE WEEK ago – hadn’t even made the first payment on it! and the kid from Enterprise showed up in a roller skate. Yeah, you read the right, a roller skate –

geo-metro I’ll leave the actual conversation to your imagination, suffice it to say, when the kid came back with a real car, he brought 3 others with him…

So, two weeks later I got my new car back. I drove all of 1/2 a block and found the front was wobbling & clunking. I turned around and went back to the dealership, just to have some redneck mechanic *****try to tell me that it was caused by tar on my tires. ?! Are you serious..? Now I know I have bumps in my shirt and so couldn’t possibly have any kind of mechanical knowledge, but really? TAR? On the TIRES? of a car that has been sitting at your dealership for the last two weeks? That wasn’t doing it when I left it..? Ok, for the sake possible, I took it home, let Hunny drive it. I checked the tires for possible tar…uhhhh, no tar. But definitely clunking & wobbling. The next day back to the dealership I went. To sit. And wait. Again.
And again I got the redneck-talking-slowly-to-a-person-with-bumps-in-the-shirt spiel about tar on the tires. Now I’m pretty tolerant (what..? I AM!) and pretty well blew it off the first time. However, not happening twice.

Redneck: Yeah, that there wobble would be from where you done run it over some freshly repaired road & picked up a little bit of tar on the tires.”
Me: “Really? You think that’s what it is..?”
Redneck: ”Oh yeah, I’m sure of it! See it all the time!”
Me: “Wow, that’s funny, because it’s been HERE for the last two weeks while you repaired the stereo.”
Redneck: “Well, you musta picked it up after you left.”
Me: “I went 1/2 mile down that road (pointing to the NOT RECENTLY REPAIRED six lane rod that runs in front of the shop), then brought it back because of this.”
Redneck:” Well there had to have been something out there..”
Me: “Well, let’s go for a ride and you can show me the new repairs…”
Redneck: *starting to look uncomfortable*“Nah, can’t do that, gotta stay at the shop.”
Me: “Okay, well then let’s walk over to the car, and you can show me where the tar is at, so I can remove it & make it drive correctly..”
Redneck: “Well, a lot of times, it gets stuck up on the inside of the wheels where you can’t get to it.”
Me: “?”
Redneck: *looking even more uncomfortable, and starting to realize the bumps didn’t affect the brain in this instance**“Well, it happens all the time…”
Me: “Where’s the manager..?”
Redneck: “Ahhhh, he’s not here today.”
Me: “Really..?”

So I took myself up front to the sales service department and asked for the garage manager – who btw WAS there. After a 15 minute conversation, during which I gave him the gist of the previous conversation, he went out to the shop and drove the car a short ways. When he returned he indicated they would need to keep it to determine the problem. And yes, there was a problem. Turns out, in addition to the stereo stuff, it also needed new brakes, rotors & the rack & pinion replaced. Another four week stay. Another four weeks in a rental car.

And so it goes. After about a year of owning this car, I decided once and for all that I don’t like little cars. Did I mention I was backing out of the garage and hit Hunny’s truck..? In my defense, I had three teen-agers in the car with me…insurance fixed it, but a friend that owned a body shop did it as cheaply as possible so I didn’t have to pay the deductible…

Anywho, I went back to the dealership & traded it in on a 1998 Monte Carlo. Much bigger, more comfortable, price about the same. Three months after the purchase it started knocking. Loudly. Essentially overnight. It was “chugging” rather than purring. Down to the dealership I go. It was something to do with the coil pack. Not covered by the warranty (yes, I bought it) as it was considered general maintenance, part of the tune up process. $500 to repair…

Ok, gotta go beat the boy (joking!) who has managed to lock himself OUT of his room, and get ready for work. I will be back – and it’ll be less than 2 months, I promise. so, to be continued…..

See ya laterzzzzzzzzzzzz

* **** Know you, I have nothing against rednecks in general – Hell, I am one, as is my Hunny, most of our friends, my older children, and the boy is a redneck-in-training. The redneck men around me know not to talk down to me just because I have bumps in my shirt…The ones who have to interact with me may underestimate me initially (an advantage for me!) but soon learn their mistake. Usually I blow it off, but occasionally, as in the above example, it rankles…

😉

Edit: Yes, I know, this has nothing to do with HH Gregg – I’ll get there, eventually – LOL
